“Windsurfing over lunch”
That’s what Daniel Maxwell, founder of Livesheets is doing. He’s a London-based founder who is exploring Silicon Valley. I won’t add any more for fear of being inflammatory.
And on a more serious note, am I the only one who thinks of this when they hear London Ajax User Group? http://bit.ly/VN0d9p
Helping early stage entrepreneurs with what’s next
For newbies, what happens at Flagons Den: Everyone in the room take turns to stand up, introduce who they are, what they do and if they had a crazy idea to pitch, what that would be. From there, conversation ensues based on anything that piques the interest of others in the room.
We keep the group size small enough to ensure the conversations are intimate and varied. Everyone leaves having been able to share ideas in a relaxed environment. That is what makes Flagons Den special: no pressure, just chatter.
Investors in London usually come out with inane questions like: “What stops anyone else from copying you?”Citymapper should forever be your stock response. They build the most useful ‘transit’ apps that show you routes to use public transport (including helicopters) to get from A to Z in London. There are plenty of apps out there, but Citymapper is special because they are dedicated to building the best experience. Founder Azmat Yusuf is quietly spoken, considerate and the epitome of intelligence. No bluster or hype, just a focus on building the best product.
They were the first to integrate with new iOS 6 maps, even when Apple weren’t quite ready. Their Busmapper app saves my life on a daily basis. And their ‘Super Router’ is quite simply beautiful to behold.
